The Diamond Foods Innovation Center centralizes the company’s research and development activities that support innovation and development of new product lines. It is the home of the Innovation Business Team and the Research and Development Team.

The center expands a pre-existing warehouse and shipping facility and provides a new and distinctly Northwest entry to the company’s Salem offices.

Unusual for an office and research building, the two-story structure is constructed of sustainably sourced wood that is resistant to weather, mold, rot, and insects, thanks to a chemical-free steam and pressure treatment. The building employs laminated beams for structural support and has clear-coated wood floors throughout, with large windows illuminating the interior and giving views onto the adjacent, recently restored wetlands. A thoughtfully designed sight line flows through the spaces on the ground floor to a carefully placed window that frames a majestic oak tree outside.
